Rowan University Robotics and Automation Society

Much of my time outside the classroom at Rowan University has been spent getting involved with and leading the Rowan Robotics and Automation Society as the club president. It has been a wonderful experience where I have been challenged to grow my public speaking skills alongside my technical knowledge to take on a project manager like role coordinating resources for all the amazing projects that RAS project leads have worked on.

Under my leadership as the President of RAS the club has grown to over 40 active members in 2022 from only 10 active members in 2020. Most exciting is that these new members have brought interesting projects to the club such as the autonomous chess board and the rock, paper, scissors bot. I established the Rowan RAS Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology for implementing and designing miniature racing drones for engineering outreach with 20 local middle school students. I was also a lead for ProfHacks 2021 with the IEEE Philadelphia Section which was supported by RAS. Getting the resources and funding to these students and many others to achieve their goals was a hurdle I needed to overcome from the Spring 2020 semester. To expand to 7 fully funded active projects from previously 2 active projects in 2019, I increased club funding from external sponsors and achieved a 60% increase in SGA club allocated budget over 3 years.

RAS is more than ready to continue supporting students in hands-on learning through projects and workshops outside the classroom.
